The Castle of Moregem is situated in the historically classified village of Moregem, within the community of Wortegem-Petegem. It was constructed near the site of an earlier moated Renaissance-style castle built in 1588, known as the Praetorium De Mooregem. The last resident of the castle was Baroness Berthe Ruzette van Caloen de Basselghem, the wife of Baron Alberic Ruzette, who passed away in 1952. The estate was sold in 1953, during which a small forest of Canadian Poplar trees was planted on the grounds. Today, the castle is enveloped by nature, reflecting the passage of time.
